L’insegnamento intende fornire una disamina su alcune questioni relative ai fondamenti epistemologici della metodologia per la ricerca nelle scienze umane; illustrare le fasi del percorso di una ricerca quantitativa che fa uso della matrice “casi per variabili”; presentare e approfondire uno strumento di raccolta delle informazioni molto diffuso: la scala Likert.

The course is a general introduction to the philosophical foundations of social reasearch methods and will cover six broad topics, which address prelimary issues on methodology (1-4) as well as special issues concerning law and its relation with other social phenomena such as economics and morality (5-6).

Minà: we aim to help PhD students developing an insightful appreciation of the research process, and engendering the key requirements to advance their capabilities to conduct and write scholarly research publishable in top academic journals.

Montresor: we illustrate the main steps though which a research output should be incubated, drafted, presented, and submitted for publication.

Montresor: we present the main foundations of economics of innovation, dedicated to illustrate the pervasiveness of innovation in economic studies, its relevance at multiple levels of analysis, and the basic glossary of terms in order to assist its application in eventual research theses.

Sabatino: we present the different research to the phenomenon of resilience and social capital in order to understand if there is a relationship, at the level of Italian regions, between these two concepts. In particular, we will try, despite the strong limits of a process that brings together two measurement methodologies of two economic and social dimensions, to understand the territories and their ability to adapt and response to economic shocks.

Scuderi: The seminar is an introduction to the empirical analysis of consumption and demand, taking cultural tourism as an example. After introducing the role of tourism in modern economies and consumption, we present selected studies about tourists visiting cultural attractions. In particular, these papers emphasize the role of motivation and cultural capital as drivers for the visit.

Faldetta: we debate the issue of employment relationship in organizational studies. Through this seminar PhD students will develop a deeper knowledge the different theoretical constructs used to analyze the employment relationship in organizational studies, such as psychological contract, perceived organizational support, commitment, organizational citizenship behaviors, leader-member exchange, workplace deviant behaviors.

Fasone: we discuss about the current debate on performance management and strategy studies. This seminar intends to present a systematic reviews of articles published on the most influential journals in the last 10 years, trying to investigate how strategy is considered by scholars when investigating PMM under different perspectives.

Ferrari: we discuss about the communication of Business Model (BM) as well as the disclosure of the firm’s process of value creation in corporate reporting in according with the latest scientific framework. In the international arena there is a strong need to improve non-financial information disclosure through the adoption of more comprehensive and transparent communication processes. The aim of this seminar is to investigate the correct positioning of BM within the systems of non-financial information in corporate reporting.

Bonaccolto: The aim of the course is to provide the students the statistical background and skills to understand and implement the main inference techniques, such as random sampling, point estimation, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. Empirical analyses on economic and financial real-world data will be discussed using the software R. 

Marinello: L'obiettivo del modulo è quello di fornire, attraverso l'introduzione dei principali concetti della Statistica Economica, un'analisi dei comportamenti dei differenti agenti economici necessaria per un primario approccio alla ricerca.

Brida: The seminar presents the main results and solved problems about the relationship between economic growth and tourism growth.

Talamo: The course provides a theoretical framework for examining migration in general with a focus on environmental migration.

La Rosa: We discuss about differences in qualitative and quantitative approaches in Business Administration and Management research, with reference to non-financial disclosure and cost of capital. We survey whether the regulatory regime (mandatory versus voluntary) of research and development (R&D) narrative disclosures impacts, by the means of a reduced information asymmetry, on the cost of equity capital.

Minà: we help PhD students developing a deeper knowledge about the epistemological issues and dominant paradigms in strategic management, as well as the evolutionary path emerging fom the SCP paradigm to the birth of strategic management as field of research.

Aiello: Il corso è una introduzione alla famiglia dei Generalized Linear Models (GLM) ed alle loro diverse “forme” per i diversi campi di applicazione.

Marinello: L'obiettivo del modulo è quello di fornire, attraverso l'introduzione dei principali concetti della Statistica Economica, un'analisi dei comportamenti dei differenti agenti economici necessaria per un primario approccio alla ricerca.
